The hip hop collective took to Facebook to give an update on the release of their forthcoming LP, writing: “The new Wu album “A Better Tomorrow” coming soon.” However, the group have still not set an official date for the release.
\In November of last year, RZA of Wu Tang Clan said that production of the album was “45 days” away from being completed. The group, who recently celebrated 20 years since the release of debut album ‘Enter the Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)’, originally suggested that the new record would be released in 2013.
Speaking to Associated Press in late 2013, RZA repeated claims he made earlier about Raekwon holding up the recording process while revealing the timeline for completion of the album. GZA, Method Man, Ghostface Killah and Inspectah Deck all contributed their verses to the album over two sessions over last summer.
“The energy that’s important is constantly pouring out. But when you’ve got to go seek for the energy, it becomes a little more difficult. Wu-Tang is forever, I’ll never take back that statement. But we haven’t recorded a lot of studio albums,” says RZA. “This is the first album we’ve recorded in seven years, actually. And we can’t wait seven years for another album.”
Last year it was revealed that GZA will definitely not be appearing in the forthcoming Ol’ Dirty Bastard biopic, Dirty White Boy. The film is set to star Michael K Williams – who played Omar Little in The Wire – as the late Ol’ Dirty Bastard, who passed away in 2004 of a drugs overdose. Williams has said that the people working on the film “have no desire to cast any actors as the Wu-Tang”.
